The Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Physiology is the recognised national body for the five professions of Clinical Measurement Physiology in Ireland.
We represent Cardiac, Gastrointestinal, Respiratory, Neurophysiology and Vascular Physiology.
We support the profession by setting high standards in education and clinical practice, providing national representation, and advising the state.

We mainly work in the area of diagnostics, carrying out tests directly on patients and very often providing reports on these tests. We also work in the therapeutic area, following up on initiated therapies to ensure compliance and effectiveness. The IICMP are the professional body who represent clinical measurement physiologists in Ireland. Our profession is comprised of five disciplines: GI, Cardiac, Respiratory, Neurophysiology and Vascular.
Cardiac Physiologists are involved in and responsible for the recording and analysis of various physiological data on suspected or known cardiac disease required to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions.
Gastrointestinal (GI) function investigations have become an important tool in the diagnosis of digestive diseases. GI Physiology testing plays a role in assisting surgeons and physicians in the diagnosis and management of patients with GI disorders.
Neurodiagnostics analyzes and monitors nervous system function to promote the effective treatment of neurological diseases and conditions, they also work extensively in the research field.
Respiratory scientists are part of a large multidisciplinary team. Their role is to investigate respiratory and sleep disorders through various diagnostic tools and methodologies.
The role of a vascular physiologist is to provide a non-invasive vascular diagnostic service for a wide range of vascular disorders. All vascular diagnostic ultrasound tests are non-invasive and virtually painless.
