Criteria for Education and Training Programmes
In order to protect the public, the HSE and the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Physiology requires educational bodies to deliver qualifications that prepare professionals to provide safe and appropriate care.
In order for a programme to be approved by the HSE Clinical Measurement oversight group on the recommendation of the IICMP it must meet the criteria for education and training programmes.
The Criteria for Education and Training Programmes describe how the education provider ensures the achievement of the standards of proficiency. They are used for programme approval and monitoring to ensure that all graduates attain the standards of proficiency required for public protection.
Standards of Proficiency
The standards of proficiency are the minimum entry to practice standards set by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Physiology and agreed by the HSE Clinical Measurement Oversight Group for safe and effective practice. The standards of proficiency provide detail on the knowledge and skills that all graduates from Clinical Measurement Physiology programmes must have. In the approval and monitoring of education and training programmes, the standards of proficiency are used to ensure that graduates of a programme holding a qualification in Clinical Measurement physiology have the required knowledge and skills to practice safely in one of the following Clinical Measurement Physiology Professions:
- Cardiac Clinical Measurement Physiology
- Gastrointestinal (GI) Clinical Measurement Physiology
- Neurophysiology Clinical Measurement Physiology
- Respiratory Clinical Measurement Physiology
