Dear Colleagues,

As many of you will be aware, Cardiac Physiologists are currently facing a number of significant challenges regarding the future of our profession, including issues around workforce planning, professional governance, education and the delivery of Clinical Measurement Physiology services.

Despite ongoing engagement with the HSE, Department of Health, Oireachtas Health Committee and political representatives, we have not seen sufficient progress in addressing these concerns.

In light of the current  circumstances, the Cardiac Faculty of the IICMP has made the difficult decision that we will not be organising or participating in Cardiac Physiologist Day at the Irish Cardiac Society Meeting in October 2026. 

This decision has not been taken lightly. We have greatly valued the opportunity to engage with colleagues and contribute to the ICS programme over many years, and we remain fully committed to the development and advancement of Cardiac Physiology and to delivering high-quality patient care.

We hope that meaningful progress can be made in addressing the issues facing our profession, allowing us to resume our participation in future meetings.
