One of the Institute’s objectives is to protect the public by fostering high standards of professional conduct and professional education, training, and competence among the five Clinical Measurement Physiology Professions:
- Cardiac Clinical Measurement Physiology
- Gastrointestinal (GI) Clinical Measurement Physiology
- Neurophysiology Clinical Measurement Physiology
- Respiratory Clinical Measurement Physiology
- Vascular Clinical Measurement Physiology
This is done by:
- Ensuring that the relevant educational bodies within the Republic of Ireland deliver qualifications that prepare professionals to provide safe and appropriate care.
In order to achieve this the Institute has developed Professional Education Standards of Proficiency. These standards are used to assess qualifications and to approve and monitor Irish entry-to-practice programmes. Only programmes that meet these standards via the approval and monitoring process will be endorsed by the IICMP as the representative professional body.
